   Dear Sir,I would like to know how to treat bladder and prostrate cancer at the same time. My son-in-law was recently diagnosed in the military service in Germany. He has prostrate and bladder cancer. Please let me know what the current protocol is to treat the two cancers and what we can do to get the best treatment in Germany or here. I thank you in advance for helping our men in uniform by giving me your best advice. Thanks again, Karin Mc Dermut

     Dear Karin McDermut,
     I tried to send you a direct reply, however, there seems to be a typo in your email address. I wanted you to get this information so I am posting your questions and Dr. Karnes reply.

     Dr. Karnes comments:
     There are no simple protocols here or anywhere that are a one size fits all treatment plan for concomitant prostate and bladder cancer.

     The treatment is based on the stage of the cancer. Thus, the best plan would be dependent on the stage and grade of each individual cancer. His age and overall health plays a role as well. The PSA level also helps in decision making for the prostate cancer perspective.

     He should have a CT scan (CT Urogram) to stage the cancer. I would not feel comfortable commenting further without additional information.
